There is No Summer Snowflake by Constance Bates Coming home to find Fresh Snow, I lift my spectral head To see no Snow, no Snow at all -- For they are now long dead. I gaze along the shadowy gate Some Mountain Snow to find, But gone is she, and gone the gate, And how they -- ! Never mind: I cannot see...

Oh, Bill -- I love your poem, Gray Eyes, and I love Fairy roses!! I SPY... Fairy Roses! Oh, Fairy Roses! Here! and here! and there! They carpet and they cascade over, and soon they're everywhere! They make me feel a pinkish glow surrounds me in the air -- And I'm a fairy with them, with pink...

Fairy Roses I always hoped there were fairies. But I wasn’t sure until today. The skies were blue, the shadows green, and wild roses perfumed the air. I stooped to inhale their heady scent and examine their fragile blooms. But to my surprise were black fairy eyes staring back into my grays! By Bill

Have you seen The Artella Daily Muse today? There's a Calmics Clip Art from AnnaMarie's blog, "Let's Inspire One Another" -- and we placed her tutorial in the ARTitorial section. This morning I awakened with that on my mind; and, I think now is the right time, and this is the right...

An English Tea stands tall and proper, A Spanish Moss, a plump showstopper. David Austen, clusters of color. Medici promises Italian splendor. My special rose, I must confess, are the single petals of Dainty Bess. Bill

I have always loved Betty Prior. What a fantastic poem, Constance! It's making me want to do an altered book about roses. I haven't found my poetry hat this week, but I'll keep looking.

This is a poem I wrote a year ago, and pulled out because it fits the theme so well. I purchased roses one Saturday, intending to plant one for each of my nearly grown children, and never noted any of the names until I got home. Then I was struck by the relevance of each name. THREE ROSES It is a farmers...

I'm so glad you wrote another post here, Aunt Bobby. I missed the first one. Roses are my absolute favorite flower. I had an article published about my grandfather's roses several years ago. I included it in my blog here in Artellaland. Anyway, I definitely want to try writing a poem. Bill

Dear Aunt Bobby – What a wonderful idea! I accept your challenge! Roses are so special to me and so are YOU! To start the challenge for June, while also bringing May to a close, I will post this favorite rose poem from my past. I still dream of its future potential in a project of the same name: “The...
