Today I took a whole bunch of really crummy pictures of really fabulous subjects. Lately, before I take my camera out to shoot, I go through the manual to make sure I have the settings that I will need to photograph the subjects for that day. Obviously, I got that wrong today because my pictures came out jet black. Jet black is not what I saw through the viewfinder/lens. OK, it was a very gray and dreary day, but it certainly wasn't jet black! And I mean blacker than midnight without the stars. Thank God for Adobe Photoshop or it would have been a complete loss. This is another picture of my beautiful and majestic friend the Great Blue Heron. He looks quite a lot better than the last time I photographed him when he was all hunched over looking very tired and hungry.

Oh Julie! I must tell you. I, too, have a blue heron that lives here in the summer. But, alas, it's too cold here in Ohio and the river is up, so I think our friend has gone on to warmer climates. You are so lucky to have yours still around. What a beautiful picture! You're really going to town with your new camera!

Hi Julie,

What a feathery picture. I am really enjoying this photo-love the blue, the symmetry and all the texture. I looked back over all your gallery posts and I like this one and Fractured (the leaf image) the best.

Keep up the beautiful work!

Julie!

Your Blue Heron photo is beautiful! I love the bright blue color against the backdrop of the grasses. And the reflection  of the heron in the water makes this an exquisite photo. I've said this before, you have a good eye for composition.

Thank you for sharing your photos with us!
