This scene really made me smile when I saw it. This is the kind of image I used to fantasize about when I was a little kid. I would see images like this in old movies and sometimes on nostalgic TV shows. I always wondered if other people fantasized about tire swings hanging from tree branches when they were little kids. Or, perhaps, they really had a swing like this in a big old tree in their backyard or behind the barn somewhere. A tree house is another thing I used to get all dreamy about. Just the thought of having a tree house brings a smile to my face. We didn't have tire swings hanging from trees or houses perched up under the umbrella of shade trees. Being City kids and all, we did find our own entertainment. In the summertime, we would  run through the sprinkler fountains in the local park or open the Johnny pump on the corner and enjoy the refreshing cool water on a scorching hot day We also had outdoor barbeques over open hand made fire pits and we would take long walks on the wooded park trails.  When we went to the beach, we would look for shells, build sand castles or bury each other in the sand. In the wintertime, we would build igloos, snow forts, snow caves, and snowmen. We also had jump rope, hop scotch, stick ball, stoop ball, and hand ball.  Did you have a tire swing or a tree house?

I was a suburbs kid in a lower-middle-class tract home area growing up -- too new for tire swings from good-sized trees, no wooded park trails.  The next door neighbor had a swing set -- a friend down the street had a GARGANTUAN swing set, and as the bamboo grew between their house & their neighbor's, we could always swing up past it!! We did have good-sized yards (little houses), and played Red Rover, and ball, and Freeze-Tag, and as a climbing kid, the girl next door and I would climb to the top of the metal clothesline pole "T" and sit there. My folks put a lovely pool in, surrounded by a gray-tinted sidewalk; we'd swim, then I'd lie down on that walk -- SIZZLE as my wet body hit the concrete.  We also had a huge porch, and skated (with "key" skates and patent leather shoes) for hours and hours and hours -- !
