I took these photos a couple of days ago and I liked the way a couple of them came out. Each one show this little guy in a slightly different position and you see his little proboscis (the thing he sips nectar with).  I hope you like him.  He is a Meadow Fritallary (Boloria bellona) in the Family of Brush-footed Butterflies (Nymphalidae) in the Subfamily of Longwings (Heliconiinae).  According to my research, these butterflies like Violets and he is sitting prettily on one of my Wild Violets.  I hope you like them.  This photo is the clearest one I took that day.  But, I'm going to post another one of this little guy that is not quite as crisp , yet, it isdefinitely my favorite.

Not only is the butterfly beautiful, Julie, but your violets are outstanding.  I just love how his scientific name "Boloria bellona" just rolls off the tongue!  Thanks for sharing, Garden Girl.
