Hi Everybody!

I'm so glad you're enjoying my photos.  You all know I'm a bug girl, but I am also a flower girl. I'll try to give the flowers equal time this year. BUT, I do have another spider photo to give you the creepy crawlies.  This guy is very shy and I could only get a couple of shots off....none of which are good enough (size-wise) to submit to JPEG Magazine.  But you know I just can't contain myself and I love to share them with you!

I always try to do research so I can share some information on the little critters I post. But, I have to say that there is a lot of contradictory and or vague information on a lot of these Spiders and some of the Hornets. (No, not the teams, silly, I mean the bugs!)

 Hugs,  Julie

I believe this is Ol' Blue Eyes himself - Frank Sinatra reincarnated!  I'm amazed at your ability to capture such close shots, Julie, and with such clarity.

Julie, I'm laughing here because that's a little too much clarity for me! Great shot of the pretty eyes but I'd rather him not be facing me...and those spiky hairs. Ewww! LOL I think this one will give me nightmares because I'm viewing it on such a large scale. Uh, he's not really that big now, is he? By the way, I think you are set for Halloween this year! (-; -Mary

Hi Chameleon & D2R!

I love the Ole' Blue Eyes reference, Frankie Boy must be turning over in his grave.  And, the first thought I had when I was editing this photo and I saw the close up was "Eheeeww: Yucky!".  He doesn't look quite that intimidating in "real size".  His body is about three quarters of an inch long (not counting the legs) and his body is about a half inch wide (not counting the legs).

OK, now just to clarify the scale of this guy's size ... is your that your husband holding the spider on his back ... or is that somebody's thumb?

That's just an amazing, amazing shot to capture.  His eyes actually look like some kind of gemstone.  Are you sure this guy isn't some type of tarantula?  Maybe it's a tarantula baby...

Hi Sooz!

You really made me LOL! No, it's not on my Hubby's back (no Hubby). Not a thumb either.  He's about the size of a dime or a hair smaller.  I'm still unclear as to what kind of spider he is -  I ordered some bug books so that I can get more precise information.  I don't think he's a tarantula, I thought maybe a black widow.  But, at this point, your guess is as good as mine.  I would like to stay with the House Spider for now.  And, if he were sitting on someone's back, I don't think I would be brave enough to be snapping off pictures.  As it is, the other day I was photographing that little Garden Spider again and he moved quite quickly and unexpectantly and you had to hear the squeal that escaped my mouth!

Hugs,   Julie
