This is a digital image combining an old book cover or advice called "Bright and Happy Homes" with a heartbreaking old photograph of a young girl. It was inspired by the frequency with which I encounter sad, scared, blank faces in the old photographs I collect. I'm sure they were put in albums and looked at, but no one "read" the face....

Transitions

One theme I am playing with in collage is making transitions from one color to another. This is the first in what I hope will be a series. The puzzle pieces reflected the light, appearing white, but I like that effect as well.

This is a close up crop from the Collage SPRING which is 1 of 4 in a series I created on the Seasons. Except for the little bits of ephemera it is all my handmade paper, even the Iris.

I used an old, old magazine illustration, a photo I took of a vase of flowers from my garden, some old stamps, and some old writing from a letter from my great gradmother.

Hybrid Art: Mixed Media/Digital collage: original piece was created with watercolors on the background and images, embellished with pastels, masking tape, string, tissue paper, japanese phrase; then I scanned it into Photoshop to creat the final colors.
