Here's a quartet of Eastern Phoebes singing for you! (One little guy has his butt to the camera, hidden between bird #1 and bird #2 on the left of the photo). These little guys were hatchlings about five days ago; soon they will be trying their wings and leaving home.
Eastern Phoebes prefer to make their mudded nests on man-made objects and shelters; in this instance, under the eave (and directly over the doorway, ahem) of my husband's workshop. The name "phoebe" is thought to come from the sound that they make, a "FEE-bee, FEE-bee" type sound.
