OK, somehwere along the day's journey I must of slipped into La La Land and thought Bobby had set up a new challenge about writing something  with the alphabet BACKWARDS....so i did, but she hadn't.....so she suggested starting a new thread...so i am....hope you get a bit of a chuckle at this verse that came to me while doing the laundrey...you know how that is.....Smile

    Zalula,

    Your

    Xygopatoomus

    Wondered

    Vicariously

    Unhindered

    Through

    Sassy

    Roberta's

    Quadrangle!

    Perhaps

    On

    Night

    Meanderings

    Looking

    Kleptomanically for

    Juicy

    Indigo

    Hued

    Gigantic

    Fresh

    Eggplants?

    Don

    Compassion for her

    Bravery

    And Appetite!!

    Omega, Upsilon, Tau

    by Constance Bates

    Zenith still before me and

    yawning, I stretch:

    xi is where I stopped,

    wilting, the night before:

Verily, at the fourteenth vile letter,

    under duress, and

    the test

some time too soon this afternoon.

    Relevant to my life?

    Quite unlikely.

Perhaps, if I stood to rule Greece

    ominously enthroned and

    nose-diving to oblivion,

Mycenean, aching to challenge my charges,

    love for this language,

knowing its power and trusting my tongue,

    just might

    intrigue me enough to learn.

However, for now, it is all

Greek to me, an uninspired English major,

    foreign,

everlasting agony, with Chaucer and oh, let's face it, Chase Johannson and Charlie Hollings and

    dating them on my mind,

    cheerleading, and

boys and their frat parties,  Beta Kappa Psi, Alpha Omega Pi!  What relevance to me -- Hey...!  Wait!  Why...!  I think...!

alpha, beta, gamma. delta. epsilon. zeta, eta, theta. iota. kappa, lambda. mu,nu. xi. And Omigosh -- Hold on! --  Omicron!

    A List of 25 Things

    by Constance Bates

Zee paper towels, still in plastic but ruined by rain

yo-yo favors (too light-weight with twisted twine), for the 5-year-old's party 25 years back

xylophone bones, one baton and six-of-eight crayon-colored keys

water weight pills, old enough there is no unremovable cap, no expiration on this prescription

violet lips of liquidy wax, a costume favorite, with a baby's bite dead center

underwear I never wear, a small sweet size 'twould be a sight to see

terry cloth in newlywed hues, to be torn into own towels for my own use

sandals, (or sandal) sparkly! sizzling! sexy! without its mate for months and years

ravioli recipe, relinquished for Chef Boy R Dee, three grown-up children ago

query form, in response to disgruntled reply to survey of product I cannot recall

proposals, of books I might still write but could not quite compose the I Propose

oven mitts, in avocado green, burnt orange, and quilted brown manic mushrooms

nine of ten collector plates of kittens, common and no longer cute enough to curate

mouse trap, clean and contemplated for contrived kitsch kitchen art

little lotions, liberated from motels and hotels and spa kiosks

kleenex box covers, of crochet'd bargain basement yarn by a beloved Bamma

journals, begun and abandoned in a heartbeat, each one's used single sheet rendered vintage by time

index cards, white, green, yellow, coral, orchid, once cheery, all blank but edge-worn and weary

hair pins, used a half-century ago to heft thick healthy hair no longer there

good wood shapes, purpose undefined but clearly a bargain, still 1970s-packaged and slashed by 60 percent

fine China, in that bad burned orange, earned by grocery shopping (next month, if you care, flatware!)

Evinrud warrantee, the boat long since sunk, but I'll wager we kept the engine

dog tags, the ones not worn by current canines but those now dead -- enough said

comics, cut from columns and mailed to me by well-meaning friends

bottles, emptied, glass and plastic, and I know there's a home somewhere for them! These,

all the reasons I cannot find my keys.

    Yes, It's All True

Zenith, the weagle girl’s collar fixed…

    Yikes! I forgot to

    X off my to-do list

Weaving baskets, yes I tried it.

    Vast amounts of ideas

    Under my cracked crown

    Technically, I’m

Still thinking about that next project.

    Running through my head, there's

Quilts, the crazy kind, like me – oh there’s the

Phone! Somebody please get it for me.

    Oh, it’s just solicitors, again.

    No problem, next

    Month I’ll

    Likely try that

Kleenex used in a dough recipe for doll forms,

Just in case, there’s still those

    Indigo’d

Hues of fibers I never use, but

Guess what time it is? I’m in a ---

    Funk! For

    Every time I

    Decide to

Care enough to do something about anything, I’m

    Blasted with yet

    Another round of medicine!

This poem rings the sad tones of truth, I'll bet --  Nicely done, and I FEEL with you!

     I especially like your Q, H, and F lines!

    Re: ZYX!

    Constance,

I so understand about looking for keys, so does my husband, except for him it's usually glasses, wallet, batteries, tickets to the footy, parking passes, ventolin, shoes, as well........!!

    Copper cat,

yep, appreciate where you are coming from too, i have some physical 'challenges' that have turned me into a Hermit just to make my life easier, but it also brought me to Artella, so i find i'm actually happier and more content in myself now, with the 'New me' (that my body has forced me to be), than i was when running around all over the place. Because my time, energy and motivation are  alot less than they used to be, i seek out what is now REALLY WORTH me spending all that on. It's made me find my more 'Authentic' self , if you know what i mean.

SARK highly recommends napping when ever you need to, and boy do i enjoy my Nana naps now! (I'm only 42yrs, so i didn't think i'd have the body of an 80yr old quite so soon!)

Thank you for joining in the ZYX...Yes

Hey, Sharon -- see what you started!  This is WONDERFUL!

All these marvelous ZYX poems -- you (Sharon) and Constance (two!) and CopperCat -- what a GREAT challenge!

Sharon -- you can come up with a challenge like this any time you want to!

    Thanks Aunt Bobby,

Thanks for helping me fit in, this is such FUN! You have no idea how much I'm enjoying Artella, and I don't think I've covered half of it yet!

    Re: ZYX!

Hi Sharon! You fit right in; you don't have to worry about that, 'cause we take all shapes and sizes, don't we, guys and gals?

What you said to me re: my poem sounded EXACTLY like me (I'm 37!) - and don't worry about the napping thang, I've got that one covered, lol!

    Constance,

your poem O.U.T. was hilarious - love the Omicron! line - that was a funny summation, like saying, OMG! lol I guess I'm in a good mood today...I'll take it when I get it.

Anyone else want to try this poem? This is so much fun.

I'm not receiving my emails so if I'm a little slow in answering things, it isn't the fibrofog...

    Gentle hugs,

    ~copper cat

25 things commonly seen on the kitchen counters or in the garage or storage space!  Or spread all over my parents house!  I related to and remembered each and every one accounted for.  Amazing that these annoying things were able to make me smile 25 times!

    Hey Sooz,

That's a beauty, LOVE zzzzz's myself too, and Oh, how beautiful! Did you do Lani's Art Happiness Challenge? I find myself saying the Oh one lots with that, it's really great, highly recommend it for lightening life up and having arty fun with like minded lovely people.

Think I might stick a copy of this up, it's full of SO many things I love-THANKS! (Except perhaps boys and babies, mine are TOO NOISY!!! Just kidding-ha ha!! Big Smile)

Actually I'm just reading Don Piper's Book, '90 Minutes In Heaven", have you read it? It's pretty amazing, and a true story full of faith, courage and perseverance. Copper cat, if you read this you might like it too. Actually many of you would perhaps....
