Okay, here is mine, with one of my cats, something fishy is happening when I'm not home.

I don't think we want to even know what our cats are up to while we're away, Annamarie!  Your cat is going to love this nutrionally-balanced meal of freshly caught fish rather than the canned variety!

    Hi everyone!

A glass is a glass until you decide to alter it or art it up then it seems like it's the most difficult thing.  Well, at least it was for me!  Here's mine with a little play on words. Wink              - chameleon

Beautifully done, crisp and elegant. I like the pretty tone of color also and the sparkle on the glass. Nice Job!

    Re: DIGITAL ART REWORK #11

OK, all you digital alterers -- I am stumped!

I know what I want to do, but I cannot figure out how to do it.  I want to make my articulated paper doll (she won the "Eyes of a Child" contest) look like she is trying to climb out of the glass.  I can't figure out how to manipulate her digitally, so I decided to scan her in with her arms and legs like I want them, but then I can't figure out (1) how to make her background transparent and then (2) how to make the part of her that is still in the glass look like it is in the glass and the part of her that is not in the glass look like it is not in the glass.  Any suggestions?

I really stumped myself with this one!   Hugs  ~~  Aunt Bobby

    Re: DIGITAL ART REWORK #11

There may be many ways to do this but this is what I did.

    glass

    fish

    cat

    glass again, puffed out

cat again, then removed the portion of the paw with my eraser over the glass so it looked like the paw was going inside the glass.

I hope this helps, if someone has a easier way, let both of us know! Thanks everyone!

    Re: DIGITAL ART REWORK #11

    Hi Aunt Bobby,

I had to actually attempt this in photoshop so I could give you some tips to try out for yourself.  I also wanted to add that your artwork was so playful and well done, Aunt Bobby.  If you have any other questions about the process, I'll try to help.

    1.  Background:  Glass to alter
    2.  Background Copy:  Duplicate Background
    3.  Layer 2 Copy and Paste: Paper Doll Image onto Glass
    4.  Rectangular Marquee Tool: choose one Paper Doll
    5.  Layer 3 Copy and Paste
    6.  Layer 3 Magnetic Lasso Tool: carefully 'lasso' paper doll around edge
    7.  Layer 3 Cut:  this will give you the Paper Doll image with no green background
Depending on where you want the Paper Doll, you can add the line around the top of the glass over top of the doll (this would be a new Layer).  You would use the paintbrush with a fine line.

Important Rule:  always Save, Save, Save!  Every time you wish to change something in the image, another layer should be added.  In this way, you can always delete the layer if you don't like the effect.  Hope this helps, Aunt Bobby.

Thanks, AnnaMarie and Chameleon.  I actually do not have PhotoShop, just a very old version of Microsoft PictureIt! Publishing.

However, following your instructions, I was able to do it.  I think she looks pretty good.  The picture is called "Will She Make It?"

Let me know what you think.

You got it! There she is, hanging on so she doesn't fall completely in, or climbing out, depending on how you want to look at it. Nice Job!

She turned out perfect, Aunt Bobby.  You've got her climbing out of her glass world and entering the 'real' world!  Glad that the instructions helped you.

    AnnaMarie:

I noticed that your "cat in the glass" was not posted in the Digital Challenge Gallery.  Would you like for me to post it there for you, or would you have time to do it yourself?
