    Zine Swap Thank You!

I really enjoyed the beautiful zines I received in the First Artella Zine Swap! The five that I have are so amazing that I learned a few things as well. I can't wait to show off your work and talents to my family. Thank you to Billizetti for hosting the swap and a huge thanks to all who participated and shared their art and talents!

I've been somewhat speechless over the zines I received. You should all be very proud of your entries!

Thank you for the wonderful opportunity.

Hear, hear! What talented zine-ists we have in our community! I felt like it was Christmas all over again when I read through my gifts from you all. Now that I know I can make a zine, next time I might get started earlier and be able to add more to my zine.

Thank you all for your creativity, lessons, inspirations and gifts that you put into your zines.

And Bill, thank you so much for administering the swap!! Your ideas and support here in the cafe really helped me create my zine.

All of you who participated in our zine swap made it a real joy!  I'm so happy those of you who hadn't created a zine before had a chance to see how much talent you really have.  Every zine was a keeper!  I was sorry I could only keep 5.  I'm thinking we should do another one.  The Yahoo Gleaner Zine group does a new zine swap every quarter.  I never get tired of seeing new zines.

    Re: Zine Swap Thank You!

What a wonderful 5-pack of zines was waiting for me at the post office yesterday! A friend was with me, and we both sat in my kitchen oohing and ahing over each of them. What talented, created people shared their delightful art! Then we met another friend for dinner, told her about the zines and came back to my house so she could see them. Of course, she too loved them and thought they are fabulous!

This was my very first zine--I was so unsure of myself. Uncertain if I could actually make and assemble one (let alone, five)! Now, well, I want to contact everyone who made a zine and swap with them so I'll have a copy of every zine  in this first swap! Is that "allowed"? Or are we held to only the Edition Number (5)?

Had an insomnia attack--woke up at 3:30 a.m. and got up at 4:30, so I've spent time with each zine, just relishing each delightful page of each wonderful zine. Am now short of sleep but very happy and excited!

Future--yes, let's do another swap. Quarterly seems good to me. I'll even volunteer to coordinate the next one. (I think I'll do a Sumi-e art edition with haiku next.)

Bill, thank you, thank you for getting this started! I really appreciate what you did.

    Re: Zine Swap Thank You!

    Hi Pat,

Your zine was so wonderful that I had to keep one for myself.  I love all of your "Momma" art!  No one would ever guess it was the first time you created a zine.

I'm still flabbergasted at how long it took for people to receive their zines back.  I wish I knew how the guy at the post office marked them.  I thought I sent them first class mail, but obviously that isn't what I was charged for.  I remember thinking I wasn't charged near enough money, but the line at the post office was so long that I let the thought just pass through.  I believe you are the person who lives in Michigan like me, and I expected you would have yours in two days.  Anyway, I put the zines in bubble-protected envelopes because a couple of them felt like they needed the protection, but evidently that wasn't the way to go.  Oh well.  We learn from experience.  Thank you so much for your patience in how long it took to receive them back!  Embarrassed

By all means, if anyone wants to swap zines now after-the-fact, please do so!  Maybe people want to do 10 copies for the next swap and receive 10 back.  I can verify that it was very difficult not to be able to keep a copy of each zine I saw.  Everyone did such amazing work!

I would be very happy, Pat, if you hosted the next swap.  It is so much more to fun to swap with my Artellaland friends than with people I don't normally have any contact with.  If we do the swaps quarterly, then now would be the time to get the second zine swap started.  I already want your Sumi-e art with haiku edition.  I know it will be fantastic!!!  I'll put my thinking cap on now to decide on a subject for my zine.  I wonder if we could get Danno G. to join this swap?  We need more men in our swaps!  I'm usually the only one.  I'll copy this in an email to him.  Please setup the swap guidelines however you'd like  Big Smile
