Well here is a chance for me to brag on my latest little "project"! Ok, not so little! After seven years of muttering about how much I disliked the flowery, dated wallpaper and dark wood in our main bathroom, I decided to do something about it.  I pulled off all the wallpaper and using an adhesive remover and a palm sander (and some of my hubby's muscle!) got the remaining dried glue off the walls. Primer and paint in a shade of palest key lime transformed the cabinets and walls, and a new shower curtain (Only $7 in the clearance shelf of Homegoods!) gave the whole room an airy, zen feel.  I am so pleased with the results!  Next...the master bath!

 Nici this is beautiful. I love the color- so soft and Zen.  You inspire me to do some home deco!

As my hubby and I prepare to move into a whole new place, I can't wait to tackle projects like this! I'm most excited about my new office - I'm planning on redoing two of the walls in there. The bottom of the wall will be covered in beadboard and trimmed out and the top of the walls will be covered in corkboard so I can hang all of inspiring stuff on the walls and never run out of room like on my little bulletin boards right now!

 Nici, this is so nice!  You chose a perfect color to enhance the tile on the walls and the floor.  I love that shower curtain. Anything made of white cotton just makes me drool!!

 What a cool idea to put corkboard all over the walls.  hey, it would be cool to do that blackboard paint on one section too!!

Believe it or not, there is MAGNETIC paint out there! So if you don't want to put thumbtack holes in the art you display, that is another way to go!

It's just gorgeous Nici!!!!  I totally loooooooooooove it.  I'm so jealous!  It is soooo Zen.  All you need to do now is dim the lights and have some soft glowy candles.  mmmmmmmmmmmm, sounds delish.  Oh yeah, don't forget to be soaking in the tub while you do this!!!  tee hee, preferably with a nice glass of wine.  I'm just hoping my sweet baboo can get my drains unclogged.

Magnetic paint???  Wowsa!!  Now I know what paint to use next when I redo my art room and my son's room too.  That's waaaaay too cool!!  Really, what will they think of next?  I was impressed with the chalk board paint!

When I was choosing paint for my studio, I mused that I'd heard of such thing and wouldn't it be cool to have the area above my desk painted with that so I could hang all kinds of stuff for inspiration. Hubby has been a painter for years and he'd never heard of it. He even asked his boss at the time, who had also never heard of such a thing either. Now I can show them both the link - but too late for my studio. Bummer.

Many moons ago, I ran across a recipe for chalkboard paint - could be a cool thing to paint on the cover of an altered book...

 

Chalkboard Paint:

3 teaspoons acrylic paint [colour of choice]
1 1/2 teaspoons glazing medium [water based]
1/2 teaspoon powder tile grout

Mix all together and blend really well. You should only mix as much as you will need for your project. It doesn't keep well, but can be stored in an air tight container for a few hours. After a longer period of time, the paint will begin to thicken a little and become a bit brittle.

 Nici, it is beautiful!  I love the look of space... the stolen view outside... I'll bet it feels airy, after the flowery floral flowers!

Hi Nici - your bathroom is gorgeous! Peaceful and "clean" looking. So the bathroom cabinet was dark wood before? All you have to do is prime it and paint it? I have dark wood cabinets in my bathroom and I hate it. Can't afford to replace it right now, so if it's easy to paint...I have a project!
