    How about ArtellaVision group goals?

How do we see this group evolving in this new environment? Who are we, as a group? What do we want for AV? Have you all given this any thought?

I love the "Sparks" gallery ....

    what else can we do?

One thing I thought about is a line of e-cards (could be offered free with the regular Artella e=cards, but crediting AV....

We might even have our own conference with the I-vocalize software. (We just finished one of those with Marney, and the format is great!)

Let's all put our thinking caps on!

I really like the idea of eCards.  I was playing in PS tonight before I read your post that might be along the lines of it.

Re: How about ArtellaVision group goals?

Thank you so much, Pat!  As you know, I'm majoring in Graphic Design so learning PS is essential to my career.  So last night I decided to start working with text masks.  I wasn't doing so well but was not giving up.  I had opened a photo of a marina I had taken a few years ago and typed the word Bliss over it with the open font selection.  Then I started playing around with different fonts.  I had forgotten about this one -  it's called Letterbeings.  I downloaded it free.  Well, it only picked up the photo at the edges of the letters so I layered it over a blank gradient.  From there, I added a couple of layers of brush style elements.  I really its simplicity.  Feel free to save it to your hard drive.

As for the direction of ArtellaVision, I love the Creative Sparks.  Maybe we could think about doing an art swap of some kind.  I like the chat idea too.  Anyone else have suggestions??

Re: How about ArtellaVision group goals?

I've had this ArtellaVision direction on my mind today. Just went back to the yahoo board and copied the original mission statement:

"An inspiring community of individuals who support one another in leading creative lives. Sponsored by Artella, a magazine and support network for writers, artists, and creative spirits. www.ArtellaWordsAndArt.com.
Our vision is of a supportive community where members can express their views and beliefs in a safe and non-judgmental forum without fear of negative comments, or reprisals. Creative thinking breeds diversity and we encourage active discussion and the expression of opinions with mutual respect, in the spirit of learning about one another...."

Well, we can cross out that "sponsored by" line, since we're now located here.

How do we differentiate ArtellaVision from the rest of the Forum?

I picture it as rather cozy and homey, maybe with the freedom to post more personal ideas...as I did with the Creative Crones  and Where We Live threads, which I would probably not do under headings that were more art/technique-specific.

I like your Swap idea, Kim!

Think about how we can convey the INCLUSIVENESS of AV--it's for anyone who wants to post there.

Another thing we might do as an AV group-- study of a book or e-book (or e-course). If several are interested. I've done that with another on-line group (A.R.T. ) and we all worked through Gloria Page's book on stamp carving. A terrific experience. Of course, that's something that would fit any of the general Forum boards....

INCLUSIVENESS: I think conveying this desire is important.

When I first saw the Artellavision posts and descriptions I wan't sure if it was a closed forum or open to new people. Maybe in the mission or description of Artellavision something like "the ever growing inspiring community..." or "Our vision is of a supportive community where anyone (members) can express their views..." could be added. Just a couple little ideas.

Pat, I would like to do a book/ebook/ecourse with a group too.

I hope everyone knows how welcome they are in ArtellaVision.  I created another eCard similar to the first.

Re: How about ArtellaVision group goals?

I'm so happy that you all are thinking of ArtellaVision.  You inspire me so much!

I also see it as being different from the other forums because they are topic-based...and I see ArtellaVision as being more based on the idea of a community...support...warmth.

When you have a mission statement you like, we can put it as a "sticky" so it appears first.  And anytime you want to work with a line of AV eCards that we can sponsor from the Artella site, or do a gathering in the new chat room format, please just sing out!

    You are the BEST!

     Kim:

You already have 2 wonderful possibilities for AV eCards -- it would only take 4 or 6 more to make a great page of eCards that could be posted for everyone to use.

Think about some kind of special "stamp" to put on them, also, to identify them as AV eCards.  Check out the Artella eCards by clicking here to see what I mean about "stamps".

Thanks, Bobby.  I've just sent an eCard to myself so I can see what it looks like with the stamp.  I'll post as soon as I've designed one.

Re: How about ArtellaVision group goals?

Okay...here's a first draft of a possible mission statement:

We aim to be an inspiring community of diverse and creative people--and you're already a member!  We all support and encourage each other in living a creative life. Here at Artellavision, you are free to express your opinions and talk about whatever you want about yourself (just remember that this IS public cyberspace). It's all in the spirit of learning about each other.
Our watchwords: openness, mutual respect, good humor --and fun!

Please, anyone, feel free to edit, rewrite, throw it out and write a new one, whatever you think...I am not 'attached' to my words! Remember, this introductory copy will be at the top, just under the ArtellaVision title for the section.

    Thanks!

    Pat

I like the mission statement content. "and you're already a member" is welcoming. Good.

Do you think it would be too bold to say "we are an inspiring......" rather than "we aim to be"?

Add "inspire" to "We all support and encourage each other in living a creative life" perhaps?

Maybe add "It's all in the spirit of learning about each other and ourselves" instead of "It's all in the spirit of learning about each other."

So it might read:  We are an inspiring community of diverse and creative people--and you're already a member!  We support, encourage and inspire each other to live a creative life. Here at Artellavision you are free to express your opinions and say whatever you want about yourself (just remember that this IS public cyberspace). We are all about the spirit of learning about each other and ourselves.
Our watchwords: openness, mutual respect, good humor --and fun!

I also made a few word changes. Whaddya think? I'm sure there are others of us with good ideas too...let's get more ideas!
