Working with glass slides - an alternative to soldering

I wanted to share this piece, since I did something I had never done before - worked with glass slides. I love the look of soldered stuff under glass (like the things in the book Pretty Little Things) but it always seemed like something I couldn't do because I didn't have soldering equipment.  This was a way to do something that basically has the same look (more or less) -- and I like the result.

This project was for my friend Bradley, who is crazyabout Halloween.  I had asked him to give me the top reasons he loved Halloween.  I made a little mini-collage (in Photoshop) to interpret 6 of the things he said, and then printed them out and put them between two glass slides, wrapping them with gold foil tape, and then wired them to sticks from my yard I painted gold.  Then I put them together in a little “bouquet” (don’t have a pic of the bouquet, but here are the individ sticks)

What a great, fun idea! Since I am really just beginning, I am trying to accumulate as many ideas as possible so that I have lots to draw from. Where do you purchase slides? Thanks for sharing!!

    Hi Annajoy -

I got mine from Oriental Trading Company (http://www.orientaltrading.com/) although I know there are lots of different places to get them.  I also got the foil tape from Oriental Trading, as well.
