    Re: Creative Sparks

"So AV'ers - what's next??  I see a couple of summer entries.  I think it's time to pick a new theme.  Any suggestions?  I was thinking school since it's starting in a few weeks.

    Namaste,
    Kim"

Just brainstorming themes here... I'm thinking September New School Year (even when you left school behind years ago); Celebrate Learning ... New Horizons in Learning...A New Start...The Learning Season  (I rather like that one!)

    October: Abundance

    November: Gratitude

December: Holy Day ...the Turning of the Sun...Return of the Light...

Those sound good, Pat. I'll throw out a couple ideas:

    January -goals, renewal, planning

February- maintaining, growing, healing (ending? maybe not) relationships of all kinds

    March-introspection

    April-growth, planting "seeds"

May - tending "seeds", blooming (May Day)

    June - midsummer's night

I'd love to see others' ideas!!

    Re: Creative Sparks

I'm very new to this, but I'm wondering: can a month have two themes?  or only one?  I'd offer:

    September: I love "Celebrate Learning"

October: Things that go bump Smile

    November: Harvest

    December: Traditions

    January: Heart Warming

    February: Stillness

    March: Lion and Lamb

    April: New beginnings

May: I also love the Blooming/Tending Seeds idea from Heather

    June: Knee-deep in life

    July: Heroism

I can't wait to see what others come up with, too!

    Blessings~

"People usually consider walking on water or in thin air a miracle. But I think the real miracle is not to walk either on water or in thin air, but to walk on earth. Every day we are engaged in a miracle which we don't even recognize: a blue sky, white clouds, green leaves, the black, curious eyes of a child -- our own two eyes. All is a miracle" ~Thich Nhat Hanh

     Donna, et al,

I must agree with your signature and it's message. I too believe the real miracle is waking up each morning here on this beautiful earth. I said that one day in front of a group of ladies and one of them ask me what I was smoking. She said she couldn't wait to get to the next life because this one was so rotten, the world is so rotten and people are so rotten. I replied that I did not know how I was going to be able to stand the next life if it was going to be so much better than this one because to me this one is so miraculous it throws me for a loop every time I take a breath. She just shook her head as if to say I am nuts. Who knows. Maybe I am but if that's nuts I'll take it over such a sour attitude any day. I am keeping her in my prayers. Someplace, deep inside, she is wounded and needs healing.

I like the lists of monthly topics for Creative Sparks. They can be interpreted in so many ways. I am very tentative in my visual expression. I am more at ease expressing myself with words. From my earliest days I can remember comments about my supposed inability to conform to the norm in artistic endeavors. I made black tree trunks on my trees in 2nd grade and my teacher scolded me and gave me poor marks in art because, as she said, everyone knows trees all have brown bark. I argued with her but that just made things worse so when I went home I broke a chunk of bark off one of our live oak trees. Their bark is very dark charcoal gray, almost black. I took it to school the next day and I really got in trouble for trying to draw attention to myself and by not conforming to the class norm. Over the years I heard variations of the same theme. I didn't have the patience to sit and tear colored paper into tiny little pieces to make pictures nor, when I was much smaller, did I have the patience to always color inside the lines. In fact I found coloring books somewhat boring. I much preferred finger painting, fantasy art with crayons and black paint and nature arrangements.  However, those were not on the approved teaching plans so...

I wander too far afield. Needless to say, as an adult, I am not too sure of myself and my abilities. Guess I will have to muster my courage and shut off the old tape recorder and tapes. It's time to build a bridge and get over it.

     Hey, Diana!

How are you doing with your creative endeavors? Are you shutting out the old tapes? If you don't want to post your doings, how about emailing me privately? I'd really like to hear about it. I, too, have some 'getting going' problems...

    Hugs,
    Pat

Embarrassed   Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. Since you posted, I fell and broke a rib and my husband fell off the stairs leading to the attic in our garage and really skinned up his back and legs. There is no railing on the side so he fell off about half way up. That was on the same day I broke a rib. Not a good day in the Lambson household.

Then, a week later, we took off for 10 days in Wisconsin with our daughter. Thank goodness our son is living with us right now. He did quite a bit of the driving going there and coming home. He also hauled the luggage around for us. Bless his strong, young body and heart, even though he and his dad growl at each other rather frequently.

Anyway, I took my creative life in my own hands and joined a couple of zine swaps, one here at Artella and one on another website. It's been fun if a bit hectic trying to get them all done, especially since I am doing each one by hand and not exact copies on the computer. Maybe next time I'll try it the easy way.

Guess I'd better quit this and finish a couple of chores before bed. I log on here and promise myself I'm just going to do one or two things and next thing you know one or two hours have slipped away. This place ie way too much fun.
