    Altered Book Journal/Agenda

    My 2007 agenda is an old book called A Year Of Space - I put week-per-page photocopies I got off of http://www.diyplanner.com/ and left a few blanks for journalling/doodling, etc. The pages are thin, so I glued a few together for each page I wanted to use.

    These scans from around the time that I was taking Zura's Fun Journalling e-course.

    The found poetry reads

    "their sky-legs;
    with the beauty of clouds-
    what beauty there is
    in the landscapes of the clouds!"

    Tracey I love this! Absolutely cool. Sorry that you almost choked on a scone though. When I do altered books, I usually go to the thrift store and buy those stapled instruction manuals for birds, hamsters, plumbing, you name it and work on those. I like them better because 1. the pages lay nice and flat to make them easier to work on and 2. since I collect books, it's incredibly hard for me to alter one. I do however, also buy the old hardcover books that have the pages falling out and I take all of the pages out, alter the cover, and add paper/ calendar pages inside and give them as gifts.

    Your book is awesome! So creative and fun!! Thanks for sharing it with us. I love sky legs and the pennies. My son and I are forever picking up pennies.

    Thanks, Holly, Ramona! (...It was a really GOOD scone, though!)

    I have a gutted agenda that has a wrap-around flap closure, looks like leather but is actually slick smooth paper-covered cardboard. I'm just not sure how I'm going to attach signatures in it yet.

    Re: Altered Book Journal/Agenda

    I'm getting the idea that "Agenda" is the word meaning a book that's prepared for altering?  If that's right, then I have two of those agendas...plus a half dozen more books set aside in a box ready for "agenda-ing"!

    I did take a one-day workshop last year and altered one book on a family memory theme...interesting! Also, it felt like Grommets 101 --there were so many!

    I love the idea of altering books. Just haven't gotten Around-to-it!

    Tracey,

       I LOVE these pages! What a great journal!! In April I started working in art journals but I haven't been consistant. Your journal really inspires me! I hadn't thought about using them in quite this manner. Thanks for sharing!!

    Thanks, Annajoy. Sadly, I haven't been adding much to it lately, other than writing in appointments, etc. on the agenda pages. But sometimes you've got to tell yourself it's OK not to be consistent, as long as you jump back in when you can!
