I am in New Jersey now, but many moons ago I lived in Greensboro, NC.I LOVED it there, and I still miss it. I have a giant crepe myrtle in my garden that reminds me of driving down the main boulevard there. Hopefully, one day I will get to see it again.

Hi Carolinians! I'm in northern VA now, grew up in Illinois BUT lived in Raleigh from 1995-2002. Two of my children were born there, the third was born in Madison, WI.

While in Raleigh I worked for the Environment and Natural Resources Department and my job entailed traveling throughout the state. I'm fairly familiar with most areas of North Carolina except the mountains and coastlines. I miss the state-- very beautifiul with quite a lot of diversity in the natural world: coastal, coastal plains, Piedmont, mountains, trout streams, blackwater streams, swampy areas. I loved it all. I'm hoping to make the trip back to Raleigh to visit friends sooner or later.

First post here...South Carolina...northwest corner not far from the mountains. Asheville and Charlotte are but an hour from here and Raleigh 4 1/2. Have family in Raleigh and a dear, dear friend each in Charlotte and just above Asheville.

Another SC friends says I'm a writer. I write here and there...a blog, MySpace page and a couple of pieces posted on a literary friend's website...so...I guess I'm a writer.

But, I'm also into digital photography and homestyle crafty stuff like working with copper wire and most lately learning casual mosaics (like really simple stuff.)

    Re: Anyone from the Carolinas?

Heh heh...we transplanted southerners ain't proud...we'll adopt most anyone who stays longer than 5 minutes.

There is still a part of that native born coastal Southern California beach rat in me...that part that is drawn to the ocean...too bad it's the whole dagnabbed state away from these mountains I also love.

Remains to be seen if I'm a good match for this place. I just know the Wild Child/Woman is aching to be let loose again. I found a jewelry making class to take at the Art School in our liddle podunk Art Museum in September. Methinks it's time to break out of these 4 walls and get m'self INTO the art world even if only on the periphery.

Yesterday while at...shhhh...WallyWorld...I bought some very colorful material and doo-dads to make scarves for my growing collection of straw hats circulating the floor lamp in m'bedrum.

    Thank you, ma'am.

I'll navigate myself over there tomorrow morning...I'm enjoying the exploration of this site and all it offers us creative oddball types.

My loverly step-daughter lives in Garner not too far from Lake Benson. We only get up there from down here in my little northwestern corner of SC every month or so. Have you been to the Flea Market at the fair grounds? My favorite haunt when we're up there. Second is Cedar Creek Gallery in Creedmore...out in the boonies, but worth the drive.

Hey, Neighbor! OK - relatively speaking. We're just north of you in Wake Forest. My dentist is off of Tryon Road in Cary. Greetings! --- Debbie
