Idea [I] ANNOUNCING THE WINNERS of Blog Contest #19 - "Summer Reading List"

The voting is over, and the winners have been chosen.  This was a VERY close contest, with what we must call a photo finish, where the winner won "by a nose"

<---- The winners will receive a copy of the Literature & Lore Studio Collage Kit.

    And the winners are:

Artella Staff winner:  Since Constance Bates is the only staff member to post to this contest, she is the Staff Winner by default.  However, reading her post convinced several of us that she would have won even if there had been several more posts. Here are some comments about Constance's post:

    ------------------------

This was a very interesting and evocative post. I can relate to devouring books by the carload every summer, and your insights are fascinating. thanks for this thoughtful post.

You've written a beautifully worded, thought-provoking essay. Thank you for sharing some of what's gone before and helped make you the wonderful Constance that you are today.

You are indeed a woman of great substance.  Thank you for sharing so much of your life in this post.  I am constantly enjoying having you in the world...

As Hebrews 4:12 says "For the word of God is living and active.." What a remarkable post!

Wonderful post. Even better the second time! Thanks Constance!

What an insightful post! I can remember when studying the Bible as literature was part of my public school English curriculum. This book can teach us and reach us through the heart as well as the mind. Thank you for sharing about your neighbors and your childhood, could this be a divine plan?

Constance voices the basis of the power of the Bible. Age-old wisdom that still applies.
    -------------------------

The Non-Staff winner is Amazonratz (Karen), with her very first blog in the Artella Cafe, an entry called "Day Sky at Night".  Here are some comments about her post:

    -----------------------------------------

A good post for the Blog Topic, by an obviously quality writer.

Wonderful post! Glad you entered it into the blog contest, too!

This is an engrossing tale - one that reminds me of our traveling days cramped in Grandpa and Grandma "G's" green-striped RV with my cousin and usually one or two other family members. How I wish I had Sue Barton with me, too!

I used to read the Hardy Boy novels.  I read every single one!  Thanks for bringing back those memories.

An exciting writer, who brings great new blood to our Artella community.

Has all the makings of joy, aliveness, and fun -- one very talented writer

Thank you for sharing this beautifully written story.

It is amazing how a book at just the right time can impact our lives!

Finding a good book is almost like finding a good friend, but it is always bittersweet when you reach the end. Well, there is always the next one. Thanks for the memories!

Brought back memories of my own summer reading enjoyment when I was a kid!

    -----------------------------------------

Congratulations, Constance and Karen.  Thanks to everyone who blogged on this topic -- the reads were wonderful.  You can still use the links in the responses to this post to read (or re-read) these great blog posts.

Re: NEW! Blog Contest #19 - "Summer Reading List"

    Good Morning Aunt Bobby,

I couldn't resist responding to this blog contest.  Since I am a bibliophile, some of my fondest memories center around my children and I reading and sharing books in the summers when they were small.  My blog is bleuchic and the title is "summer+reading+children."  Here is the URL: http://artellacafe.com/blogs/bleuchick/archive/2008/07/28/summer-reading-children.aspx

I hope you enjoy reading it.Smile

    Blessings,

    Judy Bleu-Green

I didn't have any trouble at all just copying and pasting your link.  I didn't think twice about it.  You still may get an answer about how to do a "hot link".  I don't know how that works, exactly, since it shows up as a hot link when I do mine, and I don't even know what hot link means besides a BBQ hot dog.

Re: NEW! Blog Contest #19 - "Summer Reading List"

    Sooz, good oilcan-thinkin' !

Making the link live: Let's assume we're talking from the ground up here -- If your URL doesn't auto-link, like Sooz's does (there's probably a way to make it happen, but here's the manual way for each link) --

    1. Karen, type in or copy your link:

      http://www.artelladailymuse

    2. Then highlight it (left click held down while you drag your cursor across)

      http://www.artelladailymuse.com

    3. At that point, the "link" icons immediately above your message go "live" -- before that, the chain-looking icons (4th & 5th from the right) are dead.

    4. Right-click to copy the URL/link.

    5. Click on the chain icon that looks like a complete link (5th from the right).

    6. A little box will come up that asks for the "URL" and offers a place for a title.  Since you've already copied, paste the URL; skip the title if you want, and go to the bottom of the little box and hit "Insert".

      http://www.artelladailymuse.com

    5. If you've made a mistake and want to remove the link, highlight again, and click on the broken-chain icon (4th from the right).

    Voila!

Let us know if that doesn't work for you. Good thoughts coming your way! -- Constance

Such delightful blog posts!  Thank you ALL!  I believe that for folks who love to read, the hardest part is just narrowing down the topic... and you folks have done that beautifully!

Re: ANNOUNCING THE WINNERS of Blog Contest #19 - "Summer Reading List"

Thank you, thank you!  I am especially thankful to those staff writers who were doing laundry (oh, pull it out and wear it again!), doing dishes (that's why God made paper plates!), tending their children (don't you have a TV?), or mowing the lawn (ah, gotta love the desert!)...

    Bless you all!
