Hi Ratmomma - The inbox for the Dig Altered Book conversions has been having some problems, but we believe it is now fixed.   Please try sending again.  If you continue to get an error message, please post again, here -- and we'll figure out an alternative.

Re: Creativity Contest #20 - Digital Altered Books! - Get a $15 Spending Spree!

    Hi Everyone!

Yippee! Hooray!  WooHoo! And, yes, Isabella, " Whew!  I submitted my altered book last night at about 10:30 pm EDT.  While making my finishing touches, my Photoshop CS3 program crashed.  I did a little work around and got it done. I found some obstacles when emailing them for conversion, though. I sent them to Customer Service by mistake and then had to forward them to the digital conversion team. One transmission for each page. That makes 20 transmissions total. I'm sure my ISP just loved me last night.

Altering the book was a whole lot of fun and very addictive. Once I started, I just couldn't stop. I didn't actually purchase the book until Friday night. And, I got so involved in the altering process, that by the time I realized it was after midnight, I had missed reading my Daily Musepaper.

I just loved the book when I finished it. I love the fact that it was all digital, but, I kind of wish I also had a print version of the finished book.

         Hugs,      Julie

Hi Julie - actually, the reason that we give you the pages in high resolution format (as opposed to resolution that is compatible with screen viewing) is so that you CAN print up your finished pages.  To bind them, you could print them out and take them to a copy shop to have them professionally bound, or perhaps try any kind of creative hand-made binding that fits in with the look and feel of your book.  Just a little tip!

The books that have been coming in for conversion for the contest are S E N S A T I O N A L!!!  I can hardly wait til we post them all tomorrow, so that everyone can see!

Re: Creativity Contest #20 - Digital Altered Books! - Get a $15 Spending Spree!

I'm going to try printing the fairy digital book I did on 8 1/2 by 11 cardstock.  Then I can add all kinds of ephemera to the work I've already done, and have a book that has been altered both digitally and physically.  I was thinking it would be cool to design something that I would print on all of the backsides of the cardstock so I would end up with 10 pages printed on both front and back to bind.  It could end up being a fantastic book!  Big Smile  Maybe I can even find some fairy dust to add to it!  (Oh my.  I better quit drinking this beer.)

Re: Creativity Contest #20 - Digital Altered Books! - Get a $15 Spending Spree!

    Hi Marney!

Oh, Marney, that is such great news. I was afraid to attempt printing it for fear that I would be disappointed at the results. By the same token, it was very difficult to imagine what the altered book would look like after conversion even though I loved each and every page. AND, I just checked my emails and my book is finished. I looked through it and I can hardly contain my excitement.  The beauty of the finished altered book, post conversion, exceeds my wildest expectations.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   One and All!

    Oh, Bill!

You are brilliant! That is such a great idea. You are really such an inspiration! I just can't wait to see everyone elses altered books.

Hugs,    Julie    This is kind of how I've felt for the last 24 hours. Today I'm having ISP problems with MSN. Maybe it's payback for all those large files I emailed last night.

Hi Everybody!  DON'T FORGET TO ENTER THE CHALLENGE!

I have to say one more thing on this subject tonight and then I promise I'm done. Don't make the FATAL mistake I almost did tonight. I thought that because I got my Altered Book Conversion back with a link to the book that I was done. As in done AND entered into the challenge.

NOT TRUE!  Quite by accident I saw some extra words like "don't forget" and "challenge" and only then did I realize that I had one more step.

I almost forgot to send the actual email to Artella to enter the Altered Book Challenge.

I almost did the same thing, Julie!  I was so proud of myself for finishing my book, I forgot to actually enter the contest! Embarrassed  I LOVE the finished product! I've been flipping through my book off and on all afternoon. I can't wait to see all of the others!

    Hi Isabella!

I thought everyone would think I was a real idiot for almost forgetting to submit my altered book for the contest. I thought about it for a while before I wrote the post, but I really didn't want to take any chances. I really didn't want anybody to make the mistake that I almost did. If I had actually forgotten, I would have been heart broken and really mad at myself.

Like you, I just keep going back to my book and flipping through it. I absolutely love it! I can't wait to see everyone's Altered Masterpieces.
