    art in every room

everything is art- from the bent silver forks I have on the kitchen wall (used as hooks for baskets, potholders, etc) to the collage on the front door- think of all the space there is on doors- my house has been called a combination antique store-art gallery by friends. I even have little hanging bits in doorways, from shelves, ceiling hooks, etc. The house is a canvas/bulletin board. I am very visual (who isn't, who dares call themselves an artist...) and I want as much beauty as I can get around me at all times. I even covered the fridge in patterned contact paper. Art is the centerpiece on the table, the tablecloth itself, the arrangement of plates and candlesticks...Your home should be an extension and an expression of yourself, not what the magazines tell you it should look like. So stick that postcard up, and hang the latest collage in the doorway- enjoy!

Yup I feel the same way, everything in the house ( except unpacked moving boxes) is  mine or my daughter's  artistic stamp.

Hi Saqquarra! Do you have any pictures of your canvas/bulletin board home that you'd like to share? <smile> That sounds like just the inspiration I need to continue working on my "tropical room for the winter darkness".

Re: art in every room: VERY curious

    Dear Saqqarra,

I was totally intrigued by your use of bent silver forks for hooks.  May I ask how you hang them? I have some forks clanking around in my embellishment box, and would love to give it a try.  I'm wondering if they have to be anchored? And did you drill a hole through them for the screw?

    Can't wait to hear more

    Thanks,

I'm also intrigued to see the silver fork hooks, they sound so neat!  I just recently transformed an old game board into a photo memory montage. It turned out so well, I'm so happy about it.  You can see it here:

It was so much fun too. The middle image is from the last studio kit, "Old time games and hobbies."

Re: art in every room: VERY curious

I flattened them out and bent them into the shape of the letter J. Yes I did drill a hole in the handle and nailed them right to the kitchen wall. I hang baskets, potholders etc on them . Quite a conversation piece. My kitchen is very 40's and 50's- enamel table, red plsatic cannisters, metal cannisters without lids to hold utensils, glass canning jars for salt, beans, popcorn, etc. Good luck!
