    Re: September Creative Sparks

This is perfect for me as I'm heading back to classes in two weeks (I'm finally a senior in college at 47 but I got here).

    Thanks, Heather!  Great challenge.

    Namaste,
    Kim

    Re: September Creative Sparks

Good for you for going back to school!  Whenever I get worried about my age (I'm not that old, but I have soooo many things I want to do) I listen to my audio book by Barbara Sher "It's only too late if you don't start now!" I love that book, so motivating and uplifting. My mother is 60 and is getting her Masters in Divinity so she can be a Minister. I'm so very proud of her.

My general formula for my students is "Follow your bliss." Find where it is, and don't be afraid to follow it.

Thanks, Holly.  Please send my congrats to your mother.  Kudos to her!  Barbara Sher is right and I'm glad I got out of my own way so I could do this.

    Learning, huh?

Well....as a newbie to the group and first time poster to this section...I guess that fits me.

I just signed up for a Jewelry Making class with the Art School at our little pondunk Museum of Art.

It will start in 2 weeks and I am excited to get a better handle on how to manipulate wire, beads and what-have-you into something wearable.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand - strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: WOO HOO, WHAT A RIDE!

Ohhh, how perfect. I'm looking forward to seeing your jewelry. That's great that you already know what you may want to post.

    I'm still searching...

    Re: September Creative Sparks

Well, I started out a million years about studying Accounting and Finance and quit 2 classes shy of my A.S. so I finished that degree first.  Then I went for an A.S. in Visual Arts/Photography and graduated last January.  Now I'm working on a B.A. in Fine Arts/Graphic Design.  I would have gone for a BFA in Photography but logisitically it would have been difficult as the 2 schools offering that are an hour away.  So Graphic Design it is and I'm loving it.  I'm taking a computer animation class this fall along with Photoshop and Electronic Design.  I'm doing a traditional painting class as well so I will have a lot of creative outlets.  Plus I just signed on to work in the campus art gallery one day a week.  My life is so good.  Thanks for asking, Heather.

Fun!  This will be my first "Creative Sparks" looking forward to it!

Coming here to Artella has just got my creative juices going like crazy.  I'm so excited!

    Blessings!

"People usually consider walking on water or in thin air a miracle. But I think the real miracle is not to walk either on water or in thin air, but to walk on earth. Every day we are engaged in a miracle which we don't even recognize: a blue sky, white clouds, green leaves, the black, curious eyes of a child -- our own two eyes. All is a miracle" ~Thich Nhat Hanh
