Ugly is as ugly does. But sometimes ugly is beautiful. This is one of Mother Nature's Garbage Men/Women. He/She cleans up after everyone else. It's a dirty job, but somebody has to do it.
I’ve been dying to get a good head shot of a Turkey Vulture to show the contrast between his beautifully feathered body and his naked and wrinkly head. You just can’t capture that kind of detail when you photograph them in the air. They are quite majestic with a very impressive wingspan when you see them circling in the sky.
And, look at those nostrils, I bet he/she can smell dinner from hundreds of miles away (wild speculation on my part)!
I posted a profile shot of this dapper fellow in my gallery. You can see this other photo at: http://artellacafe.com/photos/julies_joy/default.aspx
The photo you see here and the one in my gallery were taken at the Duke Estate in Somerset, New Jersey. As a birthday treat, one day I went and toured the private Gardens on the Estate and went back the following day to take a bus tour around the Estate. I hope to take the walking tour sometime this week or next week.

This is my all time favorite fall photo from this past November, 2007. I just submitted it to JPG Magazine for their "Nostalgia" theme. As soon as I saw the tree with the tire tied to it, it really did make me feel nostalgic for days gone by even though I never had one of these. This is a pending theme so it's not open for voting yet but I'll post it in my sidebar with the web link anyway. I'll be sure to let you know when this theme comes up for voting. Voting doesn't start until the theme is actually scheduled for a Magazine Issue.

You guessed it! Another submission to JPG Magazine for the Theme Delectable. Don't forget, if you want to vote for one of my pix, just click on the photo title in my side bar and become a JPG member and you'll be able to cast you're vote - it's free!
I made this little critter work for his lunch. I snapped photos all afternoon while he munched out on my Butterfly Bush. I wish I like my greens as much as he likes his. Yumm to him, Yuk to me!

You may have seen this photo in my gallery, but today I submitted it to JPG Magazine under the Theme Delectable. This little fellow is bathed in pollen while he enjoys a whole lot of Bee Candy. I think I want some. You can vote for my photo by clicking on the title of the photo in the side bar and becoming a JPG member.

I submitted a few more photos to JPG Magazine and I thought I would share them with you. If you would like to vote for any one of these photos, you can click on the photo title in my side bar and it will take you to that photo on the JPG Magazine website. The only catch is that you need to become a member in order to cast your vote (membership is free). All you have to do is sign up.
This photo was submitted under the Theme: Meta - Pictures of People Taking Pictures

The pictures says it all! Public displays of amour in this order of magnitude are always FRESH!
I decided to add another photo in the "FRESH" category in JPG Magazine. Come take a look and vote for my photo at

I was fortunate enough to be in the front of my housing development to witness open hostilities between rival factions. The two groups were sizing each other up, then, in the blink of an eye, the violence escalated into an all out war over local turf. I was also lucky enough to have my trusty camera with me to document the whole ugly mess. I just thought I would share!
Oooops! Did I say gang violence? What I meant to say was Gaggle Violence. It’s very unbecoming! And this Canada Goose, in particular, is quite fiesty and fresh. Have you ever seen a tongue that long?

In Order to post this photo in my blog, I had to crop it and make it very small. For full appreciation, check out my gallery at http://artellacafe.com/photos/julies_joy/default.aspx and you can see the details in this photo.
I submitted this photo to JPG Magazine under the theme of "Fresh" for consideration in their upcoming issue. I could use your help! Go to http://jpgmag.com/photos/571015 and vote for my photo by clicking the green "Yeah! It Rocks" button! Voting is open until April 08, 2008.
HELP! HELP! HELP! VOTE FOR MY PHOTO!

Freebies:
WHERE ARE ALL THE FREEBIES ?
I’m sure you’re all wondering where all the freebies have gone. Well, they’ve all been lost in Cyberspace. All the freebies I found were cataloged in my bookmarks. And then, one day, POOF, like magic………all gone. Fear not, I am on the hunt again. And, for being extremely tardy, I’ll list two for you today.
www.brusheezy.com has lots of really cool Photoshop Brushes (I also found some Vector Brushes (?) but I have no idea what they are yet.www.1001fonts.com has lots more free fonts for you to check out and download and they’re listed by category. If you don’t know how to install fonts, just let me know and I’ll post a “how to”.
OK, I said two, but I feel generous so here’s one more (little one)!
www.davidocchino.com is a graphic designer and he sells lots of stuff including fonts. BUT, he does give two of his designed fonts away free. The first is a Star Wars font called Aurebesh and the other is an Indiana Jones font called Forbidden Eye.
I hope these will keep you busy until I can find some more. Happy downloading!

Hugs, Julie
I'm just such a babe when it comes to Photoshop, it takes me all day just to do something as simple as this little wish for you and a couple of Easter Eggs on my blog. But, I am learning soooooooo much and having soooooo much fun you just wouldn't believe it. I can't believe it! So, today, it was away with the shamrocks and hooray for Easter. Check out my Easter blog design. And a little something special for my dear friends at Artella. Here's to you, each and every one!

Every single item that I used to embelilsh the Glitter Girl Blog and to create my Easter Wish for you was FREE. Have you been downloading your freebies?
Lots of love and hugs comin' your way! I think this is my favorite smiley face because it's kind of says it all. At least about the relationship I've had with chocolate lately.
Hugs and Love, Julie

ATTENTION: all of you Digital Artists, Scrapbookers, and Paper Aficionados, I just wanted to let you know about some really great freebies just in case you haven't already heard about them. Artella Land's very own Annmarie has been posting freebies every day for a couple of weeks now. You can download Annamarie's goodies from her Blog at "Annamarie's: let's inspire each other". I know I love to get comments, in fact, you can leave me one hear, too. You will make my day!
You better HURRY, because some of them are going to the archive! Friday and Saturday are your last chance to get the ones that were posted earlier.
By the way, do you like the new look of my blog? I redesigned it with Annamarie's Freebies!

Hugs, Julie
I found out that you couldn’t see the actual text samples in my last post unless you actually ALREADY have the fonts (well, duh). If you had the fonts already, you wouldn’t be reading my blog. So, with a little help from my friends, I gave it another try. Let me know if you can actually see the examples of each of the fonts that I listed. I used every font I named in this blog post. Leave me a comment
I thought I would share another font web site that I found because I think everybody needs options, options, options.
This one has tons and tons of fonts to choose from including some real fun fonts so I hope you like it. (This font is Zitcream)
http://simplythebest.net/fonts/
They also have some dingbats like these butterflies. I cannot believe I am using a font like Plasma Drip Empty to describe butterflies.
Rostehopilghmictnb
This Font is Called Vampire for horror fans
This font is called Fairytales if you want a little something more whimsical
this
is a 3d font and I
hope
you can read it
it
is pretty cool
This font is called Purple Tentacle PD
There are way too many fonts to show you. There must be hundreds, if not thousands, listed by category. This one is ChopinScript listed under Calligraphy. Beautiful, isn’t it?
Happy Font Hunting

Hugs, Julie
