Freebies: Kids Need Freebies Too

I’m a Mary Engelbreit fan and I subscribe to her Home Companion Magazine. Every once in a while, I go to her web site because she has lots of goodies there. You can get screen savers, computer screen backgrounds, coloring pages, and some other goodies.

Now, the best part! Since I don’t have kids, I don’t usually check out the kid stuff. Big mistake! Especially since I am such a kid at heart. Just for fun, I decided to click on the ME Kids Icon and Oooooh, what a surprise. Yes, it’s a coloring page, but, what cool fun!

Digital coloring for the kids (and me). There are crayons that you control to mix colors from a designated color palette and there’s also a sliding scale of colors that mixes and shades and tints the colors you select. I had a blast and I think your kids (or the kid in you) will have a blast too.

Check out http://www.maryengelbreit.com

I hope you like it and I hope you and/or the kids have fun!          The colors in the 8, 16, and 24 packs.

Freebies: Third Installment
First, I have to tell you that I need to make some corrections to previously named sites. I thought I had this all figured out, however, it seems that some of the addresses that I have listed in the past two “Freebie” posts are e-mail addresses.* Right now I can correct one. I will go over all of the entries and correct those that require changes as soon as possible. My apologies, I’ll be more careful in the future.

Correction to the “Freebies: Initial Installment” post:

Previously listed as: Free digital kits @ marie@freedigitalscrapbooking.com

Should read: http://www.freedigitalscrapbooking.com/index.html

Your new Freebie website for this week is:

http://www.shabbyprincess.com/downloads.asp

This site has tons of digital freebies you can download and lots of other cool stuff. It will keep you VERY busy.

* The e-mail addresses would eventually get you to the right place if you send an e-mail and request the address. But, my intent here is to provide the web addresses, not the e-mail addresses.

Happy Downloading (from the Glitter Angel)

Freebies: The Second Installment

This week I’m going to spoil you a little bit more. I am going to list three sources for freebies. The first two you may already have seen or heard about through the Artella Café or Artella Daily Muse. The first two web sites are:

Heart A Day @ http://heartaday.wordpress.com/ This site belongs to a fellow Artella Member and has some free Clip Art you can download (Hearts of course) . You can also find lots of other interesting art, information, and web links at Heart A Day.

Graphics-Illustrations (Previously known as graphics-illustrations.blogspot.com) @ http://graphics-illustrations.com/

This site has lots of goodies like brushes, stencils, backgrounds, graphics, and more.

And, last, but not least, check this one out:

Garden Scraps (by Teriann Hanks @ http://digital-scrapbooking.org/gardenscraps/?p=143 This site has lots of digital graphics, some templates, and embellishments.

I hope you're busy surfing these sites and getting all of those freebies. Happy Downloading!

Freebies: The First Installment

As of this writing, the following websites are sources for freebies. Some of you have seen some or all of these freebie sources, except the last entry which is new. I am including all of the freebie sites that I have previously shared in order to consolidate them in one place. On most sites you may need to create an account (free) or sign up for a newsletter (free). On other sites, you can go in from time to time to get your freebies but you run the risk of missing some freebies if you don’t sign up for the newsletter. Freebies are like charity, freebies always begin at home.

Artellaland: The Artella Passport contains a list of sites that may help you navigate around Artella and find freebies. Some other ways to get freebies in Artellaland are to enter Artella challenges, vote for challenge entries, go to the Clip Art Archives on the Membership, read the newsletters from Marney and answer the "Clip Ask" questions to get clip art, read the Musepaper every day and get clip art in the Calmics feature, participate in Artella special events, and in the Artella Cafe in the Quick Links section go to downloads and you will find lots of freebies. And, here are some other sites for your perusal.

My Pride and Joy

As far as photos go, the latest addition to my gallery is my pride and joy.  He is a Red Tailed Hawk. I have desperately wanted to photograph him since I saw him circling my house while I was gardening this summer. I really didn't have a prayer, though. The only camera I had at the time was a Kodak digital point and shoot. It's an OK camera but not for any serious photography and it certainly doesn't have the long range telephoto abilities required to capture a hawk gliding through the air far up in the sky. In late November last year I bought a serious Nikon DSLR Camera and I have been practicing and learning over the last ten days. I have seen him more than a few times in the last couple of days, but I either didn't have my camera with me or I was on a State Highway and couldn't pull over. He is right there in my gallery awaiting your arrival! Come take a look. Shameless plug, I know! Check it out @ http://artellacafe.com/photos/julies_joy/default.aspx

Vote For Your Favorite Photo

I just posted two pictures (Sky A and Sky B) in the Julie's Joy Gallery at http://artellacafe.com/photos/julies_joy/default.aspx. I wanted to conduct a little experiment with these two photos. I would like anyone who comes to this blog or goes directly to my Gallery to choose whichever picture they like better. And if you could tell me why you like the picture you choose it would be very helpful to me. Just leave your choice and feedback in the comments and I'll conduct my experiement based on your comments. After the results are computed I will post them in my blog and explain why I wanted your help.  I don't want to leave any information about the pictures at this time because I don't want to influence your choice. I'm sorry I don't have any freebies to offer you at this time to reward you for voting, however, I will be posting sources where you can get freebies in my blog regularly.

Freebies: My New Year’s Resolution

I was actually going to skip the blog posting challenge in spite of Marney’s incentives (sorry, Marney). But, in the eleventh hour, I decided I had one (resolution, commitment to posting) that I just couldn’t resist. Before getting to the resolution I would really like to commit to, I want to share exactly what my past resolutions have been like. For most of my life, my New Year’s resolutions (and failure to keep them) have probably been very much like many other people’s resolutions year after year. You know, lose weight, quit smoking (I actually did quit but not as a result of a resolution), eat less, exercise more, give up this, start doing that. Over the last couple of years, my resolutions have had more to do with improving myself. Not exactly in the usually ways. They had more to do with self improvement in one way or another, though. Improve my physical health through behavior modification because of a lot of medical problems I have, start exploring my creative self, work toward healing emotional and psychological wounds, and developing my spirituality. Of course, I will continue to aspire to these since they will contribute to my overall well being. I know you know there is a however coming (I won't disappoint). However, I thought it might be fun to have one really special resolution. One that honors the person I am trying to become. A resolution that might make a very small contribution to a community that has given me so much in the past year.

I know you can’t stand the suspense, so here goes! I thought it would be cool to make a resolution that would benefit me, as well as benefit others. The idea was actually inspired by a forum post left by another Artella community member. I know you all know that I love freebies. In fact, I think I am the Freebie Queen. For the most part, I stumble upon them, try to keep my eyes and ears open to make sure I don't miss out on them, or I encourage others to provide them. However, I have not gone to any great lengths to seek them out. In addition, I think sharing my sources for these freebies are great when I am asked about them. Wait for it! It’s coming (the resolution)!

Here it is and I just hope it was worth the wait and isn’t too grandiose. This year I am going to actively seek out freebies. OK, so big deal? Well, there’s more! I will share these freebies with the Artella Community via my blog. When this idea began to percolate in my brain, it felt a little scary. I couldn’t help but think it quite risky to make a resolution that a whole community could measure and hold me accountable for keeping. Then, I thought, what the heck, I seem to find these things anyway. So, why not give it the old college try? Go out and actively find them and actively share them.

So, here’s my New Year’s resolution. I will attempt to write a post listing at least one source where I have found a freebie in my blog every single week. I thought about trying to do it every day, but that just seemed a little too awesome of a task. This commitment will actually get me to consistently write and post more often in my blog, as well as provide sources for freebies for me and this wonderful Artella Community.
