Fairies and Fairy Castles

fairy

If you have read my previous blog posts, I'm pretty sure you know by now how much I love Marney's new art form - altering digital books.  I have a new one online now that I hope you will really like:  Fairies and Fairy Castles.  Here is the link:  http://www.artellaland.com/DigAltBook/Gallery/wjc_Castle/start.html  There is a special dedication on the back cover.  Lani Gerity offers wonderful classes both through email and in person.  I was thrilled last August, because I thought I was going to be able to take her class on making an altered fairy book in Ann Arbor, MI. during the "Altercations" weekend.  (We live 11 miles outside Ann Arbor.)  Unfortunately, I could not take the class at the time it was scheduled.  I did look for her during the time I was at "Altercations," but did not find her anywhere.  I was very disappointed!  I sent her an email about it, and being the wonderful person she is, she put the instructions she used in her class on one of her blogs for anyone who was not able to attend her class.  Just like our Marney, Lani is a wonderful, sharing person!

Bill, this is your best one yet!  I'm almost ready to try one.  I just get so overwhelmed with so many ideas I don't know how I'd narrow it all down into a few pages.  It looks so exciting...  maybe, just maybe.  Let me think on it.  Hey, my daughter made a mini-zine for her 7th grade project on Ancient Japan.  It was very cool and the teacher gave her extra credit.  She was inspired by Artella to give it a try.  Thanks!

Bill my man, I can tell you were met to live in a castle with plenty of fairies. Your book is beautiful and I feel honored that you are able to share it with us. What a joy your art is.

Bill, that is a gorgeous book! You never fail to outdo yourself with each new work. I do look up to you for inspiration (read "kick in the backside") to finish my first digital book. I have the cover and the back done and 2 of the image pages complete, so I think I'm halfway there. I think I just have to go where my heart tells me to go with it. That's when I am most pleased with my art, when my "inner child" takes over and it turns into joyful play. :-)

I just enrolled in Lani's "Artist Happiness Challenge" workshop. She sounds wonderful. I hope it's not too over my head to be a part of it. Then again, I love a challenge.

Thank you for sharing your work with us; you are inspiring!

Bill

Another beautiful altered book. Very well done!

You seem to have so much fun with your art and you do so much! How do you find the time? Zine swaps, art challenges and altered books. Your gallery if full of beautiful art and your blog always has new posts. What's your secret?
