The Bubble Gum Inspiration
I landed my first writing gig in kindergarten penning a poem on a topic close to many of our hearts: bubble gum; I've been chewing on words ever since. A native of Ohio, I attended Ohio University in Athens, Ohio where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Communication and began studying various forms of creative writing. After graduation, I dibbled and dabbled in speech writing and freelancing for smaller publications in my area. I moved to an area just outside of Cincinnati where I was a Lifestyle and School reporter for The Fairfield Echo in Fairfield, Ohio. In 2004, my passion for animals took me out West to the red rocks of Southern Utah to work for Best Friends Animal Society, the nation's largest no kill animal sanctuary. Currently, I run my own health food store, Four Directions, which has not only allowed me to enjoy the life of the self-employed, but has also opened up time for me to spend time concentrating on my personal writing. I live in Northern Arizona (but this may be changing very soon!) with my six kitties and old hound dog where I love listening to music by Over the Rhine, cooking any and all things vegan. I never leave home without my trusty sidekick, Pomeroy (my Macbook) and I like to eat green olives on Tuesdays at noon.
